Presbyterian Disaster Assistance

Pioneer Church enthusiastically supports Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA). From the annual One Great Hour of Sharing offering to special offerings when a diaster occurs, we feel good about supporting those affected by disasters through PDA.  We have been "hands-on" with PDA through trips to the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and northwest Ohio following flooding there. PDA is unique among relief organizations. Presbyterians have a presence in most corners of the globe through our World Mission partnerships. When disaster stikes, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance doesn't have to "go there" -- we are already there! Using existing relationships and infrastructure, PDA is often able to help more quickly than most more widely-known relief organizations.  The other unique thing about PDA is that it stays. We are still working on the Gulf Coast on Hurricane Katrina relief. We are still in Tornado-ravaged parts of the United States. We are still in Haiti following the earthquakes there. We are still in Japan following the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster. We are in Sudan, Syria, the Horn of Africa, Madagascar, and throughout the world.

When we ask for contributions to the One Great Hour of Sharing offering, you know it's going to good use. When disasters strike and we offer Presbyterian Disaster Assistance as a way for you to help, you can trust that effective relief is happening and there is good stewardship of your gifts.
